Asia Clarke

Jewelry Designer
Toronto, Ontario
January 2015

Asia Clarke first imagined her Wild Moon Jewelry line in the winter of 2010; Wild, to encourage and facilitate a connection to mother earth, spirit and intuition, and Moon, to acknowledge the connection of humans to celestial beings and the affects on us here on earth. WM also stands for WoMan. Her creative line is created primarily by wire and beadwork with semi precious gem stones. These intricate pieces have been stocked in fine Toronto and Montreal boutiques such as Untitled & Co and at General 54 respectively.

What does a typical day look like for you?

My full time gig is a job developer at a community centre in Scarborough. I’m up at 7:30am – there for whole day, then home in the afternoon to work on my jewelry biz for rest of the night. Sometimes I swap working on jewelry for going to the gym. Then sleep and do it again.

What projects have you recently been working on?

I spend a lot of time working on jewelry, and I just released the LUNAR ECLIPSE collection for FW14 at www.wildmoonjewelry.com. I have an intern now (my lovely cousin Kaila) who helps me fill orders for online store and boutiques in Toronto, Montreal and Hamilton. Aside from that, I’m also looking into becoming a Goldsmith.

What do you find most challenging and exciting about your career?

Exciting is constantly pursuing new opportunities and setting life goals. Challenging is choosing just one at a time.

Where does your passion derive from?

Self-love and bravery; I feel like there is little I can’t do.

How do you manage a healthy work/life balance?

I exercise, I eat healthy and I rest. I make good boundaries for myself.

What does success look like to you?

Actually pursuing what you really want to do with this one life… Also, waking up everyday to work towards the goal(s) you've set counts as a success to me.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Achieving true self-love.

What’s one word that best describes your personality?

What is your greatest fear?

Not achieving my goals… Also the sound of Styrofoam really freaks me out for some reason.

What is your most treasured possession?

My hands.

If you weren’t doing what you’re doing, what would you be doing?

Chilling at Mero Beach in Dominica with a fresh pineapple juice and a fried bake with codfish.

Do you have any upcoming projects in the pipeline?

I just released the LUNAR ECLIPSE collection at www.wildmoonjewelry.com, and I’m also working on a t-shirt line to be released this winter.

Where is your favorite place to travel and why?

The Caribbean, because its what I know. But I would love to visit Asia one day to achieve eternal irony.

Where would you most like to live?

Somewhere that’s French speaking, hot all the time, in the Americas and is not the USA. So maybe Guadeloupe?

How do you spend your down time?

I really like to spend quality time de-compressing with my close friends over tea and a joint. And I love to stretch.

If you could spend a day with any person (living or dead), who would it be and why?

Neil Tyson Degrasse – because he is a hero to me.

If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be?

A big serious cat, like a panther.

Do you have any advice for other young professionals?

Follow your intuition and save your effort for worthy battles, because they will surely come.
